Wasteborn
Privacy Policy
Last updated: 1 August 2026
This policy explains what personal data Wasteborn collects, why we collect it, who processes it and what rights you have. Uppercut Labs, the British studio that publishes Wasteborn, is the data controller. Our Terms of Service sit at /wasteborntos.
1. What we collect
- Account data — the details you give us when you register, such as your email address and the display name you choose, plus an internal account identifier.
- Game progress — your saves, statistics, settings, unlocked content and in-game currency balances, stored so your progress survives a reinstall or a change of device.
- Purchase records — confirmation from Apple or Google that a purchase or subscription happened, and what it unlocked. Payment card details are handled entirely by the stores and never reach us.
- Technical and diagnostic data — device model, operating system version, app version, crash reports and aggregated gameplay analytics used to fix bugs and balance the game.
- Support correspondence — anything you send us when you contact us for help.
We do not collect your contacts, photos, precise location or health data.
2. Why we use it, and our legal bases
- to create and maintain your account and save your progress (performance of our contract with you);
- to deliver purchases, subscriptions and entitlements (performance of our contract);
- to fix crashes, prevent cheating and abuse, and keep the Game secure (our legitimate interests);
- to understand how the Game is played so we can improve and balance it (our legitimate interests);
- to respond when you contact us (our legitimate interests);
- to send optional push notifications, where you have turned them on (your consent — withdrawable in your device settings at any time).
We do not sell your personal data, we do not share it with third-party advertisers, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.
3. Who processes it
Only service providers we need in order to run the Game — cloud hosting and databases for accounts and saved progress, crash reporting and analytics, and the app stores that handle payments — under contracts that limit them to processing data on our instructions. We may also disclose data where the law requires it, or to establish or defend legal claims.
4. Where it is stored, and for how long
Data may be processed outside the UK. Where it is, we rely on recognised safeguards such as adequacy regulations or standard contractual clauses.
We keep account and progress data for as long as your account exists. If you delete your account, the associated personal data is deleted or anonymised within a reasonable period, other than records we must keep by law — for example purchase records kept for tax and accounting. Diagnostic data is kept in aggregated or short-retention form.
5. Your rights
Under UK GDPR you can ask for access to your personal data, correction of it, deletion of it, restriction of or objection to how we process it, and a portable copy of the data you gave us. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw that consent at any time.
Email hello@uppercutlabs.co.uk to exercise any of these and we will respond within one month. If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk.
6. Children
Wasteborn is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal data from them. The Game carries its own age rating in each store. If you believe a child has given us personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
We use appropriate technical and organisational measures — encryption in transit, access controls and reputable infrastructure providers — to protect your data. No system is perfectly secure, but we build our own software, so security is not outsourced thinking.
8. Changes to this policy
When this policy changes we update the date at the top of this page and, for material changes, flag it in the Game where practical. Continuing to play after a change means the updated policy applies.
9. Contact
Questions about this policy, your data, or a deletion request: hello@uppercutlabs.co.uk.
